Tex Message

Tex message  Well, the 2009 Summer Reading Club is winding down but the friendly folks who comprise the band Tex Libris are winding up for the upcoming Adult Summer Reading Club Party this coming Tuesday, August 4th @ 7:00pm at The Emily Fowler Public Library.

To give you a little taste of the Tex, here are a couple YouTube videos they put up of a rehearsal. The first is a version of the Woody Guthrie/Billy Bragg/Wilco tune ‘Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key”:

…And Willie Nelson’s “Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain” :

(Its rumored that these videos were shot secretly and bootlegged for their obsessive fan base out there in the blogosphere.)

Tex Libris @ The Adult Summer Reading Club Party, Aug. 4th!

Who or what is a “Tex Libris“? Is it one of the following?-Tex%20Ritter

Not exactly, but if you are the first person at the Adult Summer Reading Club party on August 4th who can name these famous Texs’, we’ll give you a prize. We haven’t figured out what it’ll be yet.

Tex Libris is a countryfied band of employees in Denton-area libraries and their ne’er-do-well associates. They like to throw down the old skool Honky Tonk a la Buck Owens and Waylon Jennings, the classic Country of Patsy Cline and Hank and some newer twang of Wilco and Gillian Welch.

Wear your boots…
