Crochet 101 for Adults
Want to learn a new craft?
Need to brush up on an old skill?
Want to get a really early start on holiday gifts?
Denton Public Library is offering a series of classes for adults who never learned to crochet or who learned long ago and just need a little help getting started again. A basic crochet program for adults will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on three Tuesdays, May 17, May 24, and May 31. Mary Cresson will demonstrate basic stitches and how to read patterns, and attendees can choose project patterns from among a scarf, a draw-string bag, and a teddy bear. Yarns and hooks will be provided for practice, but feel free to bring supplies from your own “stash” if you have one.
The program is free, but space is limited, so please call to register by May 14. To register, or for more information, please call 940-349-8752.

Basic Knitting Program for Adults
Due to popular demand, the Denton Public Library is offering more classes for adults who never learned to knit or who learned long ago and have forgotten how to do the basic stitches. A series of Adult Basic Knitting classes will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on four Thursdays in May (May 5, 12, 19, and 26).
During the course of the four classes, Joanne Pullman will demonstrate basic stitches and how to read patterns. Yarns and needles will be provided for practice, but feel free to bring supplies from your own “stash” if you have one.

Origami 101
Intrigued by the folded animals and decorations you’ve seen from time to time? Want to know more about this traditional Japanese folk art? The Denton Public Library is offering classes for adults who are interested in learning the basics of this traditional Japanese folk art. A series of Origami 101 classes will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on three Thursdays in April (April 7, 14, and 21).
During the course of the three classes, instructors will show you how to make the basic folds and combine them to make animals and simple boxes. Origami paper will be provided for practice, but feel free to bring supplies from your own “stash” if you have one.
