We Need Teen Volunteers!
Calling all teens ages twelve to seventeen! Gain valuable community service and work experience by helping the Denton Public Library with its largest program of the year: the Summer Reading Club. We need teens to help register customers for the Summer Reading Club and hand out Summer Reading Club prizes. Please visit the reference desk at any Denton Public Library location for an application and more information. No prior experience is needed, but attendance at one of the following orientations is required:

The 2012 Summer Reading Club Starts Tomorrow!
The 2012 Summer Reading Club, Get a Clue…at the Library, begins on
May 31 at all Denton Public Library locations. The Summer Reading Club is an opportunity for participants of all ages to read for fun and earn prizes as they complete their reading goals. Prizes include free books, a party at the Denton Water Works Park and much more.
Children’s entertainer James Wand will perform at each library location to officially launch the summer program with his Secret Agent Magic Show. Join us on Friday, June 1 at the South Branch at 11a.m., the Emily Fowler Central Library at 1 p.m., or the North Branch at 3 p.m. as we find clues, secret codes and lots of magic on this top secret mission. Seating is limited. Tickets will be handed out (free of charge) one hour before each performance on a first come, first served basis.
The Summer Reading Club program is co-sponsored by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Denton Municipal Electric and the Friends of the Denton Public Libraries. There are lots of fun things to do at the library including weekly reading activities, special classes and events for pre-school and school-age children, tweens, teens, and adults.
Information about the 2012 Summer Reading Club is available by calling any library location at 940-349-8752 and on the Library’s web site, www.dentonlibrary.com. Participants can join the reading club at any time between May 31 and July 24 to receive a prize.

Get Prehistoric With It!
We had a ton of fun with Dinosaur George yesterday at the South Branch Library. He brought all kinds of fossils, and we learned not just about dinosaurs that lived here in Texas, but other animals as well. If you missed out on the fun, here’s a short clip:

June 2 at all Denton Public Library locations. The Summer Reading Club is an opportunity for participants of all ages to read for fun and earn prizes as they complete their reading goals. Prizes include free books, a party at the Denton Water Works Park and much more.

Join us on Friday, June 3 starting at either, the North Branch at 11a.m., the South Branch at 2 p.m., or the Emily Fowler Library at 4 p.m. for a delightfully entertaining show. Seating is limited. Tickets will be handed out (free of charge) one hour before each performance on a first come, first served basis.

Don’t Miss Our Party at the Water Works Park!!!
Don’t forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Club at the Denton Public Library in order to earn your free ticket to a party at the City of Denton Water Works Park on Saturday, August 14 from 7:30 – 9:30 pm. Summer Reading Club participants can enjoy the entire park, and will be entered into our prize drawings. Children have a chance to win a free bike!
Children and teens can earn their tickets by signing up for the Summer Reading Club at any branch of the Denton Public Library, but you must sign up before July 15 to earn your ticket. Tickets are given to youth who read for twenty minutes a day for thirty days, and the last day to obtain tickets is August 12. Adults accompanying minors may enter the party for free.

Catch the Reading Express!
The 2010 Summer Reading Club, “Catch the Reading Express” begins on June 3, 2010 at all Denton Public Library locations. The summer reading club is an opportunity for participants to read for fun and earn prizes as they complete their reading goals. Prizes include free books, book bags, a party at the Water Park and much more.
Musical group The Sugar Free Allstars will launch the program with a free performance at the Summer Reading Club Kickoff Party. Join us at Quakertown Park on Friday, June 4 from 9:30am to 11:30am. Meet Max the Bunny, get your face painted, and sign up for the Summer Reading Club!
This program is co-sponsored by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Denton Municipal Electric, Denton South Rotary Club, and the Friends of the Denton Public Library.
