Smash Bros. Brawl Tourney Winners
Thanks to all who came and participated in the first ever Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament at the North Branch of the Denton Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 24th. We had hundreds of people pop in to check out the BRAWL madness, and nearly 100 people enter the tournament. It was a long tournament, but we finally made it through to the end with the top 3 winners as promised.
All three winners received a trophy plaque from DFWgames and various prizes from the Denton Public Library, to include meal and play certificates donated by Gameworks at the Grapevine Mills Mall, Anime dvds donated by Funimation and various manga titles donated by A-Kon and Madness Comic and Games.
We will have another tournament in the future with players separated by skill level to allow recreational players to battle each other in one bracket, while the more professional gamers battle it out in another.
And now for the winners ( identified by their tournament player names):
And in the #3 spot – Shamburger

Smash Bros. Brawl Tourney
Do you love to play Smash Bros. Brawl? Are you up for a challenge? The Denton Public Library and DFW Games are teaming up to provide a professional Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament at the North Branch Library on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 2 p.m.
Trophies and prizes will be given to the top three players. To pre-register for the all-ages tournament, go to www.dentonlibrary.com, click on the Smash Bros. Brawl banner on the right hand side of the page or go directly to www.dfwgames.com and click on the Denton Library event link.
In addition to the Smash Bros. Tourney, there will be side contests of Mario Kart and a gaming character coslpay contest put on by Mu Epsilon Kappa, UNT’s official Anime Club.
“Whether or not they want to compete, everyone should come to the North Branch to see this event take place,” said Juli Gonzalez, public services librarian, North Branch Library, “DFW Games brings in professional gamers and equipment. They put on a stellar tournament.”
Attendees can also enjoy casual gaming stations and refreshments, so come and root for your friends or favorite Nintendo characters.
DFW Games is an organization that runs events and provides tools and services for gamers who enjoy console and arcade video games. Their mission states they seek “to serve, support, and grow the console gaming community of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area by creating a competitive, yet fun and welcoming environment for all participants.”
