Origami Boxes Class
The Denton Public Library is offering a two-part class for adults who are interested in learning how to make origami boxes designed by Japanese artist Tomoko Fuse. The classes will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 3 and May 10.
During the two classes, instructors will show you how to make the top and bottom portions of the boxes, which can be made in a wide variety of sizes. This is not a beginner’s class, and knowledge of the basic folds is required. Origami paper will be provided for practice, but feel free to bring supplies from your own “stash” if you have one.
Space is limited, so please call or email to reserve your spot by May 1.

Basic Needlepoint
Come learn the basics of the fine art of needlepoint from an expert designer and ‘pointer! Denise DeRusha, who has been selling her hand-painted needlepoint canvases for a number of years, will teach you what you need to know to get started in this decorative and useful craft. She will teach you twelve basic stitches, combined into a sampler suitable for framing or making into a pillow. All materials needed for the project will be provided.
This 6-week class for adults will meet once a week, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays January 12, 19, and 26, February 2, 9, and 16. The class size is limited, so registration is required.

Make a Paperback Book Lamp
Fold old (or new) paperback books in various shapes and place them onto a hanging lamp cord. Demonstration of folding techniques will be followed by, well, lots of folding. Paperback books, lamp cord, and ceiling hook will be provided. You may bring your own books if you like, but because of the weight it is recommended that you use paperbacks.

Information on Tap: Home Brewing at the Emily Fowler Library
This coming Saturday November 19th the Emily Fowler library, 502 Oakland St, Denton, Tx will host a home brewing program featuring the Ass- Helaf Brew Club starting at 3pm. This event is free and open to the public. Our guests are award-winning recipients at the Bluebonnet Brew-Off and will discuss how to make a good brew. Kids Learn 2 Knit
Learn how to knit in this fun hands-on workshop taught by an expert at Emily Fowler Central Library. You’ll learn how to cast on (start), knit, purl, and cast off (finish). This class has two parts and you must attend the first class to be able to attend the second. The first class is Saturday, September 10, from 3-5 pm and the second class is Saturday, September 17, from 3-5 pm. Space is limited, so call 349-8752 to register. Ages 10 & up.

Due to popular demand, the Denton Public Library is offering more classes for adults who never learned to knit or who learned long ago and have forgotten how to do the basic stitches. A series of Adult Basic Knitting classes will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on three Tuesdays in August (August 16, 23, and 30).
During the course of the three classes, Trey Ford will demonstrate basic stitches and how to read patterns. Yarns and needles will be provided for practice, but feel free to bring supplies from your own “stash” if you have one.

Intermediate Knitting Program
Due to popular demand, the Denton Public Library is offering classes for adults who want to expand their knowledge of and skills in knitting.. A series of Adult Intermediate Knitting classes will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on four Thursdays in August (August 4, 11, 18, and 25).
During the course of the four classes, Joanne Pohlman will demonstrate advanced techniques and show students how to knit from a chart, how to knit lace and how to block your finished lace project. Prerequisite: You must know how, and be able, to cast on, knit, purl and bind off to take this class. Supplies: 450 yards sock weight or fingering weight yarn, and one pair of size 3 US/3.25 mm knitting needles.

Come join the morning fun & work on the craft of your choice! Everyone is welcome to bring a craft & work with other crafters, exchanging tips & techniques or just enjoying the company. The group meets on Thursday mornings in the Emily Fowler Central Library program room from 9:30 to 11:30 am.

Peyote Bead Stitching Class
Want to learn a new craft? Like the idea of beading your own jewelry or other decorations? Denton Public Library is offering a series of classes for adults who are interested in learning the off-loom beading technique known as Peyote Stitch. The classes will be held at the Emily Fowler Central Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on three Thursdays, July 14, July 21, and July 28. Librarians and volunteers will demonstrate the basic flat even-count stitch and how to read patterns, and attendees will be provided with several patterns. Needles, beading thread, and beads will be provided for practice, but feel free to bring supplies from your own “stash” if you have one.

Paste Paper Class
Creating paste paper is one of the earliest methods used to decorate paper. This method has been in use since the late 16th century, primarily as book covers and endsheets. The designs can range from simple to complex. A paste is made and mixed with paint and can then be manipulated with hand tools or writing implements.
On July 13, from 10 am to noon, a creating paste paper class will be held at the North Branch Library, 3020 North Locust Street. Participants will be shown numerous application techniques and will be free to experiment on their own. All supplies are provided.
