Online Genealogy Class, May 5th 2012
The Emily Fowler Library Special Collections Dept. will be presenting a class on Online Genealogy research and resources this coming Saturday, May 5th at 10am. Join us for this informative program about how to get the most out of your genealogy research using online resources. This class is free as always but, please call (940) 349-8752 to register.
Basic Microsoft Excel 2007
Learn to use Microsoft Excel at the South Branch Library. A two-part class to introduce novice users to the popular spreadsheet program will be presented on December 7 and December 9 at 2 p.m. Those needing a refresher course in the basic functions of Excel are also welcome to attend. In order to take the class, students must be familiar with using a mouse and know how to save and retrieve files in Microsoft Windows, and also be able to attend both sessions.
When: Wed., 12/7 & Fri., 12/9 2 pm (two part class)

Ask Emily: Drop-in Technology Help
The library now offers drop-in technology help in addition to regularly scheduled computer classes. On the first Monday of each month at the Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland Street, from 3 to 5 pm, Library staff & volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions.
We can help with specific problems you have encountered when working with Microsoft Office applications, surfing the Web, using the library databases or catalog, downloading audio or eBooks. No registration is necessary, and you can come anytime during the open hour. Bring your portable device or flash drive containing the document you’re working on.

Spanish Computer Classes
Computer classes in Spanish will be offered at the North Branch Library, 3020 North Locust Street, in September, October, and November. PC for Beginners will meet on September 26th, 27th, and 28th from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. This class is for participants with no knowledge of computers. Working with Word will meet on October 24th, 25th, and 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants must know how to use the keyboard and mouse. Introduction to the Internet will meet on November 14th, 15th, and 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. Participants must be familiar with getting online and entering Web addresses, and how to use the keyboard and mouse. There is no charge to attend these classes but registration is requested. Clases de computadoras en español serán ofrecidas en la biblioteca North Branch, en la calle North Locust #3020, en septiembre, octubre, y noviembre. Clases para principiantes serán el 26, 27, y 28 de septiembre de 6:30 a 8:30 P.M. Estas clases serán para personas que no han usado una computadora. Las clases “Trabajando con Word” serán el 24, 25, y 26 de octubre de 6:30 a 8:30 P. M. Participantes de estas clases tendrán que sabercomousar el teclado y el ratón. Learn to use Microsoft Word at the South Branch Library. Learn How to Download E-Books @ North Branch
Do you want to check out books on your new Nook or Android phone but don’t know how? Learn how to download eBooks from the Denton Public Library’s web site to your home computer, eReader or mobile device. This class is at the North Branch Library on Wednesday, June 22, at 6 p.m.
Kimberly Wells will demonstrate how library card holders can download best-selling novels, classics, self-improvement guides and much more using the Download Center at www.dentonlibrary.com. This class is free and open to the public and no reservation is needed. If you cannot make this class please contact the Denton Public Library at 940-349-8752 to make an appointment to discuss eBooks.

Learn How to Download E-Books @ South Branch
Learn how to download e-Books at no charge with your Denton Public Library card during a class at the South Branch Library. The Overdrive Tech Talk class will be presented on Wednesday, June 29th at 2:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to search for e-Books on the library’s web site, what e-Reader devices are compatible, and what steps to take to download an e-Book or digital audio title.
