Homebound Library Services

The Denton Public Library has launched a service which makes library materials available to Denton residents who are unable to visit the library due to illness, disability or lack of transportation.   Homebound Library Service participants can borrow books, DVDs, music CDs and more by mail.  All items come with prepaid postage labels for returns.

“The Denton Public Library is committed to reaching out and finding ways to provide library services to all members of the community,” said Eva Poole, Director of Libraries. “For some Denton residents, visiting our physical locations is not an option. Our Homebound Library Service program gives us the opportunity to mail library materials directly to homebound individuals of all ages whether they live independently or in assisted living facilities.”

To qualify for the service, participants must have a Denton Public Library card and live within the city limits of Denton. Applications to receive library materials by mail must be certified by a physician, nurse or social worker. Participants will be able to check out up to two items at a time. Applications are available at all Denton Public Library locations and at www.dentonlibrary.com.

The Denton Public Library’s Homebound Library Service program is made possible through a Special Project Grant in the amount of $75,000 awarded to the North Texas Library Partners by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
