Book Adventures are Back @ DPL!
Starting September 8, children are invited to the Denton Public Library’s “Book Adventures” programs to explore the arts and sciences through stories, facts, crafts and activities. “Book Adventures is a wonderful literacy and skill-building opportunity for children,” says Eva Poole, Director of Libraries. “Parents will find it encourages reading and children will just have fun!”
There are several opportunities to attend this wonderful program:
North Branch: Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m.
Emily Fowler Central Library: Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. Or join us on these Saturdays – Sep. 19, Oct. 17, and Nov. 21.
When the South Branch reopens in mid-October: Thursdays at 3:30 pm
Book Adventures lasts about 45 minutes, and is for kids in kindergarten through third grade. Each week, we will read story, discuss information from the story, and do a craft or activity. Parents are welcome to stay for the program. Join us for an afternoon of adventures!

Book Club for Fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy
Did you love Harry Potter and Twilight? Then we have the book club for you! Join us for Gryffindors, Teen Fantasy Book Club, on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 PM at the Emily Fowler Central Library.
This month’s featured book is Fablehaven by Brandon Mull. Kendra and Seth get more than they bargained for when they visit their grandfather’s country estate in Connecticut. There, they discover a sanctuary for magical creatures, where ancient laws keep the fantastical creatures living in relative harmony. When Seth does not heed warnings and makes a mistake, Kendra must find the courage and strength to face her greatest fear and try to save her family and the world from untold evil.
Refreshments will be provided, and readers of all ages are welcome. The Gryffindors meet every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland Street. Upcoming books include Beastly by Alex Flinn on October 20 and What the Dickens by Gregory Maguire (author of Wicked) on November 17.
